ALBA Berlin smashed Telekom Baskets at home 97-74. ALBA Berlin dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Telekom Baskets' 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Telekom Baskets' players. It was a good game for the former international forward Niels Giffey (200-91, college: UConn, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Luke Sikma (202-89, college: Portland) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Serbian Strahinja Micovic (205-92, agency: BeoBasket) answered with 14 points and 5 rebounds and American swingman Chris Babb (196-90, college: Iowa St., agency: Wasserman) added 14 points in the effort for Telekom Baskets. Five ALBA Berlin and four Telekom Baskets players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Telekom Baskets will play next round against Hamburg Towers trying to get back on the winning streak. ALBA Berlin will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
