Regular Season Round 10: MBC-Niko 2 - Polytechnic 68-76

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Mykolaiv. Top-ranked Politekhnik faced their biggest opponent MBC-Niko 2. Guests from Kharkiv (6-0) defeated host MBC-Niko 2 (7-3) 76-68. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But MBC-Niko 2 won third quarter 24-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Point guard Sergey Startsev (190-97) fired 21 points and 7 assists for the winners. Naturalized Moldovan center Stanislav Zavadskiy (212-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Bogdan Lukian (183-99) produced 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Vladislav Orzul (192-1) added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. MBC-Niko 2's coach Valentin Berestnev rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Politekhnik have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Rivne. MBC-Niko 2 at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Politekhnik is looking forward to face Ch.Mavpy 2 (#6) in Cherkasy in the next round. MBC-Niko 2 will have a break next round.
