Regular Season Round 7: Ankara Basket - Samsun 76-70

Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Ankara Basket (3-3) defeated at home 10th ranked Samsun (3-4) 76-70 on Wednesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Strangely Samsun outrebounded Ankara Basket 46-33 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for swingman Kutay Akpulat (198-97) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American guard Elyjah Clark (190-98, college: MSSU) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals for the winners. American-Brazilian center Tim Soares (211-97, college: Master's) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists and Ahmet Cantitiz (193-92) added 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Samsun. Five Ankara Basket and four Samsun players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Ankara Basket went down to eighth position due to points difference, which they share with Balikesir. Samsun at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth place with four games lost. Ankara Basket will face bottom-ranked Istanbul (#16) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Samsun will play against Mamak (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
