The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Lions' (4-3) home victory over 6th ranked Bayer Giants (3-5) 103-95 on Saturday. Lions dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Bayer Giants' 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Bayer Giants helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was center Maurice Pluskota (209-92) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Czech center Adam Pechacek (206-95) chipped in 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Haris Hujic (193-97) produced 22 points and 5 assists and American JJ Mann (198-91, college: Belmont, agency: GoEmpire Group) added 19 points and 5 steals respectively for the guests. Four Lions and five Bayer Giants players scored in double figures. Bayer Giants' coach Hansi Gnad tested twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Lions moved-up to fourth place. Loser Bayer Giants dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Lions are looking forward to face MLP Academics Heidelberg (#5) on the road in the next round. Bayer Giants will play against Artland Dragons and are hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
