Regular Season Round 4: Schwabach - Heidelberg 2 79-70

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Schwabach (2-1) defeated at home bottom-ranked Heidelberg 2 (0-3) 79-70 on Sunday. Schwabach dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Heidelberg 2's 30. Schwabach forced 22 Heidelberg 2 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Deeshyra Thomas (168-95, college: Weber St.) who scored 28 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Nicole Metzel chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. Schwabach's coach Nikolay Gospodinov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Anna Meusel (178-89) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds and guard Eleah Steins (170-2) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four Heidelberg 2 players scored in double figures. Schwabach moved-up to fourth place in South, which they share with Mainz. Newly promoted Heidelberg 2 still closes the standings with three games lost. Schwabach will face Speyer / Schifferstadt (#6) in Dudenhofen in the next round. Heidelberg 2 will play at home against Ludwigsburg (#9) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
