Regular Season Round 7: Lokomotiv 2020 - Athletic Sofia 88-53

Bottom-ranked Athletic Sofia (0-8) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to eighth ranked Lokomotiv 2020 (4-1) 88-53. Lokomotiv 2020 dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Athletic Sofia's 26. Lokomotiv 2020 players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Vasil Mihaylov (202-94) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds. Forward Kristiyan Stavrev (200-95, college: Eckerd) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Lokomotiv 2020 players scored in double figures. Guard Aleksandar Dimitrov (192-0) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds and guard Denislav Ivanov (182-99) added 14 points in the effort for Athletic Sofia. Athletic Sofia's coach Konstantin Kasarov gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Lokomotiv 2020. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Chavdar. Athletic Sofia lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with eight games lost. Lokomotiv 2020's next round opponent will be Champion 2006 (#10) in Sofia and are hoping to win another game. Athletic Sofia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sofia CSKA.
