Regular Season Round 11: Ch.Mavpy 2 - Politekhn.Lvov 73-93

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Cherkasy where 6th ranked Ch.Mavpy 2 (1-5) was crushed by seventh ranked Politekhn.Lvov (3-5) 93-73 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Politekhn.Lvov. Ch.Mavpy 2 managed to win second period 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Politekhn.Lvov dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Ch.Mavpy 2's 44. Politekhn.Lvov forced 21 Ch.Mavpy 2 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Ch.Mavpy 2's players. The best player for the winners was forward Danilo Kych (193-0) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Guard Nikola Polyulyak (192-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Politekhn.Lvov's coach Yaroslav Zubrytskyy used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Yuriy Romanovskyy (193-1) produced 27 points and 4 assists and Sviatoslav Tovkach (-2) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Politekhn.Lvov moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Prometey-2. Loser Ch.Mavpy 2 dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Politekhn.Lvov will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ch.Mavpy 2 will play against the league's leader Rivne (#1) and hope to win that game.
