Regular Season Round 7: Ginasio - Sampaense 80-90

Bottom-ranked Ginasio (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 90-80 loss to fourth ranked Sampaense (3-2) in Figueira da Foz. They also forced 19 Ginasio turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Skyler Hogan (196-97, college: SEMO) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Desmond Ringer (206-94, college: Mercer) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Sampaense's coach Claudio Figueiredo allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Tim Graham (198, college: Academy of Art) answered with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and power forward Goncalo Barbosa (198-98) added 22 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Ginasio. Four Ginasio players scored in double figures. Sampaense moved-up to third place. Ginasio at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Sampaense will play against league's leader Povoa on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ginasio will play against the league's second-placed Illiabum (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
