Regular Season Round 4: Oldenburg - Chemnitz 119-73
Date: December 4, 2020
Bottom-ranked Chemnitz (0-3) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their third consecutive match to eighth ranked EWE Baskets (3-1) 119-73. EWE Baskets shot 66.1 percent from the field and made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. EWE Baskets had a 30-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 21 long-distance shots on high 70.0 percentage. EWE Baskets players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The winners were led by Austrian-Slovenian center Rasid Mahalbasic (210-90, agency: BeoBasket) who had that evening a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and American Rickey Paulding (196-82, college: Missouri) supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) by international forward Jan-Niklas Wimberg (206-96) did not help to save the game for Chemnitz. Canadian forward Isiaha Mike (203-97, college: SMU) added 14 points for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. EWE Baskets moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Chemnitz still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Vechta and Frankfurt. EWE Baskets will play against bottom-ranked Telekom Baskets (#18) in Bonn in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Chemnitz will play at home against Skyliners and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
