Fifth-ranked LCC Tarp. (0-5) gave a tough game to third ranked Neptunas (4-3) in Klaipeda on Friday. Neptunas managed to secure only two-point victory 61-59. However their fans expected easier game. Neptunas outrebounded LCC Tarp. 52-32 including a 23-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by LCC Tarp. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Ionna McKenzie (188-96, college: Texas Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 19 rebounds and point guard Ligita Tamutyte (177-99) who added 11 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Neptunas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was international point guard Laurita Jurciute (178-98) with 30 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian center Vanja Petrovic (191-1) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Neptunas maintains third position with 4-3 record having just five point less than leader Kibirkstis. Newly promoted LCC Tarp. still closes the standings with five games lost. Neptunas are looking forward to face Siauliu Siauliai (#4) at home in the next round. LCC Tarp. will play against the league's leader Kibirkstis and hopes to get finally their first victory.
