Regular Season Round 7: KOS - Linz Wels 56-64

Linz Wels can celebrate finally their first win this season after three consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Celovec, where they defeated KOS (0-6) 64-56. It looked good early as KOS took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Linz Wels had a 26-15 second period charge getting the lead and KOS was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 56-64. It was an exceptional evening for center Marlies Kolin (179-92) who led the winners and scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Sonja Andjelkovic (174-0) accounted for 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Linz Wels' coach Gregor Leitner allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Slovenian center Nikolina Sofric (186-0) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and guard Patricia Struhar (169-95) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for KOS in the defeat. Linz Wels (1-3) left bottom position moving up to sixth place. It was KOS's sixth loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with six games lost. Linz Wels' next round opponent will be higher ranked Vienna United (#3) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KOS will play against the league's leader BK Duchess (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
