Regular Season Round 7: Basket Flames - BK Duchess 38-69

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Vienna. Leader BK Duchess faced 4th placed Basket Flames. Guests from Klosterneuburg (5-0) smashed host Basket Flames (4-3) 69-38. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Basket Flames. The game was mostly controlled by BK Duchess. Basket Flames managed to win third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Basket Flames to just 5 points in second quarter and to 13 points in first half. BK Duchess held Basket Flames to an opponent 23.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.5 percent accuracy of the winners. BK Duchess forced 21 Basket Flames turnovers. It was a great evening for guard Michaela Wildbacher (172-98) who led her team to a victory scoring 14 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Caroline Nwafor (182-83) helped adding 9 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. At the losing side Montenegrin Agatija Vukicevic (-3) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 16 rebounds and Luxembourg forward Loulou Kenens (173-97) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. BK Duchess have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with UBI Graz. Loser Basket Flames keep the fourth place with three games lost. BK Duchess will meet bottom-ranked KOS (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Basket Flames will play against DBBC Graz (#7) and hope to secure a win.
