Regular Season Round 6: Vinnystkiye M. - Rivne 48-72

Rivne's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after 11 consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Vinnytsia, where they outplayed Vinnystkiye M. (2-10) 72-48 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Rivne. Vinnystkiye M. was better in fourth quarter 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Vinnystkiye M. to just 5 points in second quarter and to 13 points in first half. Rivne dominated down low during the game scoring 34 of its points in the paint compared to Vinnystkiye M.'s 12. They outrebounded Vinnystkiye M. 37-22 including 30 on the defensive glass. Rivne looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Vinnystkiye M.'s players. It was a good game for the former international guard Viktoriya Shmatova (172-87) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists. Center Tetiana Havrylchyk (193-0) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Rivne players scored in double figures. Forward Tetyana Lysenko (183-93) replied with 20 points and 4 steals and guard Victoria Ogiy (170-95) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Vinnystkiye M.Rivne maintains eighth position with 1-11 record. Newly promoted Vinnystkiye M. keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. Rivne will face higher ranked Interkhim (#6) in Odessa in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
