Undefeated Crailsheim Merlins (3-1) recorded its first loss on the court of sixth ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by EnBW Ludwigsburg 97-88. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Crailsheim Merlins. They outrebounded Crailsheim Merlins 39-24 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Barry Brown-Jr (190-96, college: Kansas St.) stepped up and scored 30 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Cuban swingman Yorman Polas-Bartolo (191-85) chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds. Five EnBW Ludwigsburg players scored in double figures. Canadian guard Trae Bell-Haynes (188-95, college: Vermont) responded with 24 points and 8 assists and the former international guard Maurice Stuckey (187-90) scored 14 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. EnBW Ludwigsburg (4-1) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with ALBA and Oldenburg. Loser Crailsheim Merlins dropped to the seventh position with one game lost. EnBW Ludwigsburg will meet Skyliners (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Crailsheim Merlins will play against EWE Baskets (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
