Rather expected game in Traiskirchen where 10th ranked Arkadia Lions (1-8) were defeated by seventh ranked Gunners Oberwart (4-4) 80-71 on Sunday. Arkadia Lions were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Gunners Oberwart forced 20 Arkadia Lions turnovers. Strangely Arkadia Lions outrebounded Gunners Oberwart 36-22 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Lawrence Alexander (190-91, college: NDSU) who scored 17 points. His fellow American import forward Quincy Diggs (198-90, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) chipped in 14 points. Four Gunners Oberwart players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Croatian center Mario Spaleta (209-95) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Croatian forward Dani Koljanin (202-96, college: UALR) added 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Gunners Oberwart have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 4-4 record. Loser Arkadia Lions stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Gunners Oberwart will face Kapfenberg Bulls (#8) on the road in the next round. Arkadia Lions will play against Raiffeisen Flyers Wels and hope to win that game.
