Regular Season Round 9: Giessen 2 - Koblenz 80-82

The most exciting game of round 9 in the ProB took place in Giessen. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Giessen 2 (4-3) to second ranked Koblenz (7-2) 82-80 on Tuesday evening. Koblenz looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Forward Brian Butler (196-91) stepped up and scored 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and American DJ Woodmore (190-92, college: VWU) chipped in 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Koblenz players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international Johannes Lischka (203-87) with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and Tim Uhlemann (203-99) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Newly promoted Koblenz maintains second place in South with 7-2 record having just five point less than leader Bochum. Giessen 2 lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with three games lost. Koblenz are looking forward to face White Wings (#8) in Hanau in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Giessen 2 will play at home against Coburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
