Very expected game when bottom-ranked Rasta Vechta (0-6) was edged at home by eighth ranked Bayreuth (3-3) 92-89 on Wednesday. Bayreuth made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Rasta Vechta was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for international point guard Bastian Doreth (183-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 assists. American Matt Tiby (203-92, college: Milwaukee) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American center Dennis Clifford (213-92, college: Boston Coll.) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Robin Christen (202-91) added 11 points and 4 assists in the effort for Rasta Vechta. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rasta Vechta's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Bayreuth went down to ninth position due to points difference. Loser Rasta Vechta still closes the standings with six games lost. Bayreuth will face Skyliners (#13) in Frankfurt in the next round. Rasta Vechta will play on the road against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#3) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
