Regular Season Round 9: Duzce - Istanbul 63-51

Bottom-ranked Istanbul (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 63-51 loss to eighth ranked Duzce Belediye (5-3) in Duzce on Thursday evening. American-Jamaican forward Joel James (208-94, college: UNC) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American guard Desi Washington (188-92, college: St.Peter's) chipped in 7 points and 9 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Yigitcan Saybir (203-99) with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Tarik Sezgun (208-1, agency: BeoBasket) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Duzce Belediye moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Balikesir. Istanbul lost their ninth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with nine games lost. Duzce Belediye will meet Ankara Basket (#8) on the road in the next round. Istanbul will play against Mamak (#10) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
