Regular Season Round 13: Canik Belediye - Mersin 50-124

Bottom-ranked Canik Belediye (0-12) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 12th consecutive match to fourth ranked Mersin (8-4) 124-50 on Saturday evening. Mersin dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Canik Belediye's 32. Mersin forced 24 Canik Belediye turnovers and outrebounded them 57-29 including a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mersin looked well-organized offensively handing out 43 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Canik Belediye's players. Ukrainian swingman Alina Iagupova (186-92, agency: LBM Management) fired a double-double by scoring 31 points, 7 rebounds, 15 assists and 4 steals for the winners. British-American power forward Kristine Anigwe (193-97, college: California) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Mersin players scored in double figures. American center Stephanie Madden (186-88, college: Langston, agency: Areus Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and Dilan Calis (-94) added 6 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mersin maintains fourth place with 8-4 record. Canik Belediye lost their twelfth game in a row. They still close the standings with 12 games lost. Mersin will meet at home Adana Basket (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Canik Belediye will play against Botas in Adana and hopes to get finally their first victory.
