Regular Season Round 18: Silales Lusis - Palanga 72-80

There was no surprise in Rietavas where 14th ranked Silales Lusis (1-10) was defeated by eleventh ranked Palanga (3-4) 80-72 on Saturday. Palanga forced 24 Silales Lusis turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Silales Lusis' players. The best player for the winners was Laurynas Mikalauskas (205-85, college: Virginia) who scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Chase Harler (191-98, college: WVU) chipped in 14 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Mindaugas Cepauskas (186-89) who recorded 22 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and power forward Rokas Rakevicius (200-96) added 5 points and 11 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) respectively. Silales Lusis' coach Mindaugas Krisciokaitis let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Palanga moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Vilkaviskis. Silales Lusis lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Palanga will face higher ranked Zalgiris II (#3) in Kaunas in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Silales Lusis will play on the road against the league's leader Suduva-Mantinga (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
