Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Academik Plovdiv (3-2) defeated at home 7th ranked Yambol (1-3) 83-67 on Saturday. They outrebounded Yambol 41-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Bosnian center Obrad Tomic (207-93, agency: PEPI SPORT) who scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. International Vasil Bachev (195-92, college: Cuesta JC) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. American guard Eric McGill (190-96, college: SIU) produced 21 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and international power forward Andrey Ivanov (206-96) added 7 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Academik Plovdiv moved-up to third place. Yambol lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with three games lost. Academik Plovdiv will meet Chernomorets (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Yambol will play against Beroe in Stara Zagora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
