Very predictable result when eighth ranked Schwenningen (4-3) smashed on the road 13th ranked Phoenix Hagen (1-4) 84-54 on Saturday. Schwenningen made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Phoenix Hagen turnovers and outrebounded them 37-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Schwenningen looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Phoenix Hagen's players. The best player for the winners was American Shaun Willett (193-96, college: Queens, NC) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Jonas Niedermanner (205-96) chipped in 14 points. American center Zach Haney (211-96, college: Boise St.) produced 7 points and 7 rebounds and Dominik Spohr (198-89) added 11 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Schwenningen have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place. Loser Phoenix Hagen keeps the thirteenth position with four games lost. They share it with Tuebingen. Schwenningen will meet bottom-ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Phoenix Hagen will play against the league's leader Rostock and will have a slim chance for a victory.
