Regular Season Round 18: Mazeikiai - Neptunas-Akv. 88-83

Mazeikiai can celebrate finally their first win this season after 11 consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Neptunas-Akv. (5-6) 88-83 on Saturday. Mazeikiai shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Point guard Andrius Gaidys (180-94) had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Dominykas Bucas (201-99) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Nojus Mineikis (201-0) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and Dovydas Romancenko (206-98) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Mazeikiai and five Neptunas-Akv. players scored in double figures. Neptunas-Akv.'s coach Simonas Serapinas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mazeikiai maintains fifteenth position with 1-11 record. Loser Neptunas-Akv. keeps the eighth place with six games lost. Mazeikiai will meet higher ranked Gargzdu (#5) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Neptunas-Akv. will play against Ezerunas and hope to secure a win.
