Regular Season Round 8: KOS - BK Duchess 61-78

Very expected game when bottom-ranked KOS (0-7) lost to second ranked BK Duchess (6-1) in Celovec 61-78 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by BK Duchess. KOS was better in third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. BK Duchess shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. The former international guard Lisa Zderadicka (168-94, college: FGCU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 9 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Guard Pia Zderadicka (175-91) contributed with 25 points for the winners. Slovenian center Nikolina Sofric (186-0) replied with 15 points and 9 rebounds and Italian guard Monika Ristic (162-3) added 20 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) in the effort for KOS. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BK Duchess maintains second position with 6-1 record behind leader UBI Graz. Newly promoted KOS still closes the standings with seven games lost. BK Duchess will face Vienna United (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. KOS will play against DBBC Graz (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
