Gisa Lions can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked XCYDE Angels Noerdlingen (3-3) 71-59 on Saturday. Gisa Lions forced 19 XCYDE Angels Noerdlingen turnovers. It was a great evening for British guard Eilidh Simpson (170-92, college: SFC) who led her team to a victory scoring 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American swingman Darien Huff (175-97, college: Charleston) helped adding 18 points. Huff is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Gisa Lions players scored in double figures. At the losing side French-Luxembourg Magaly Meynadier (170-91) responded with 8 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Levke Brodersen (170-94) scored 8 points and 4 assists. Gisa Lions (1-5) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place. Loser XCYDE Angels Noerdlingen dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Gisa Lions will meet league's second-placed TSV 1880 Wasserburg on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. XCYDE Angels Noerdlingen will play against Blue Dolphins (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
