Regular Season Round 13: Polytechnic - Prometey-2 80-51

Very expected game in Kharkov where 7th ranked Prometey-2 (3-7) was rolled over by second ranked Polytechnic (9-1) 80-51 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-51. Polytechnic dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Prometey-2's 32. Polytechnic forced 21 Prometey-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 51-32 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Sergey Startsev (190-97) fired 23 points and 6 assists for the winners. American forward Cam Gregory (203-95, college: Loyola, MD) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Igor Klimov (189-1) produced 10 points and center Bogdan Brinyuk (-3) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Polytechnic maintains second place with 9-1 record behind leader Krivbas. Loser Prometey-2 keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Polytechnic will have a break next round. Prometey-2 will play at home against Mariupol (#4) and hope to win that game.
