Regular Season Round 12: Juventus - Neptunas 85-84

The most exciting game of round 12 in the LKL took place in Utena. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Neptunas (3-8) to fifth ranked Juventus (6-4) 85-84 on Sunday evening. Neptunas was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Juventus made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of center Mindaugas Kupsas (216-91) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international guard Martynas Gecevicius (193-88) who added 19 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Benas Griciunas (210-94, college: EWU) with 12 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Zygimantas Janavicius (193-89) scored 10 points and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Neptunas' coach Tomas Gaidamavicius tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Juventus moved-up to fourth place. Neptunas lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with eight games lost. Juventus will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Neptunas will play on the road against Nevezis (#6) in Kedainiai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
