Regular Season Round 8: CB Queluz - Coracao R. 85-53

CB Queluz's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after five consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Chamusca (1-5) 85-53 on Sunday. CB Queluz dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Chamusca's 18. CB Queluz forced 22 Chamusca turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Chamusca's players. The winners were led by forward Afonso Candeias (190-2) who scored that evening 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Tomas Martins (174-0) supported him with 17 points. Even 13 points and 6 rebounds by American-Nigerian Manny Ogunfolu (201-89, college: S.Indiana) did not help to save the game for Chamusca. Joao Pereira (175-96) added 11 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Four Chamusca players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CB Queluz left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Chamusca. It was Chamusca's fifth loss in a row. CB Queluz will meet league's second-placed Electrico FC in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Chamusca will play against Academia (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
