Regular Season Round 7: Rivne - Interkhim 72-57

The game between closely ranked teams ended with sixth ranked Rivne's (2-12) home victory over 7th ranked Interkhim (3-11) 72-57 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rivne. Interkhim was better in second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Rivne won last quarter 19-6. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Interkhim to just 6 points in fourth quarter. It was a great evening for the former international guard Viktoriya Shmatova (172-87) who led her team to a victory scoring 26 points and 7 assists. Forward Liudmyla Spyrydonova (180-84) helped adding 3 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals. At the losing side center Diana Bondaryuk (197-85) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Kateryna Tkachenko (170-4) scored 14 points. Despite that victory Rivne went down to seventh position due to points difference. Interkhim lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with 11 games lost. Rivne will face league's leader Kyiv Basket at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
