Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked BG Goettingen (2-5) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Hamburg Towers (6-1) 98-94 on Sunday. Hamburg Towers made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. BG Goettingen was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward Terry Allen (203-93, college: Richmond) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points. His fellow American import guard Jordan Swing (198-90, college: UAB) helped adding 15 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Mexican guard Jorge Gutierrez (191-88, college: California) responded with 25 points and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and point guard Nelson Weidemann (190-99) scored 11 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Hamburg Towers keep a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. BG Goettingen lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth place with five games lost. Hamburg Towers will face ALBA Berlin (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. BG Goettingen will play against EWE Baskets (#7) and hope to win that game.
