Very important is a home loss of third ranked Zalgiris II (11-6) against fifth ranked Gargzdu (9-4) on Monday night. Host Zalgiris II was crushed by Gargzdu in Kaunas 81-57. Gargzdu outrebounded Zalgiris II 41-27 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a good game for guard Modestas Kumpys (194-91) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Center Oskaras Pleikys (202-1) contributed with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Gargzdu players scored in double figures. Swingman Mantas Rubstavicius (198-2) answered with 14 points and center Giedrius Bergaudas (212-0) added 10 points in the effort for Zalgiris II. Zalgiris II's coach Arvydas Gronskis gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Gargzdu maintains fifth place with 9-4 record. Zalgiris II at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Gargzdu will play against Neptunas-Akv. (#8) in Klaipeda in the next round. Zalgiris II will play on the road against the league's second-placed Suduva-Mantinga (#2) in Marijampole and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
