The most important game in the last round took place in Botevgrad between third ranked Academik Plovdiv (4-4) and fifth ranked Balkan (4-2) on Wednesday night. Academik Plovdiv was defeated by Balkan on the road 91-77. Balkan looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Balkan made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American point guard Siyani Chambers (183-93, college: Harvard) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 assists. The former international guard Bozhidar Avramov (196-90, agency: 011 Sports) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Croatian forward Jere Vucica (206-92, college: Miami, OH) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward Tony Gugino (207-86, college: Hillsdale) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Academik Plovdiv players scored in double figures. Academik Plovdiv's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Academik Plovdiv at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Balkan are looking forward to face Yambol (#7) on the road in the next round. Academik Plovdiv will have a break next round.
