Regular Season Round 8: Spartak Pleven - Yambol 83-80

Spartak Pleven can celebrate finally their first win this season after six consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Yambol (2-5) 83-80. Spartak Pleven dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Yambol's 28. Power forward Dimitar Marincheshki (200-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 8 rebounds. Swingman Lyuben Paskov (196-90) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Spartak Pleven's coach Aleksandar Dyakovski allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Eric McGill (190-96, college: SIU) replied with 20 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Willie Atwood (201-94, college: ASU) added 21 points in the effort for Yambol. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Spartak Pleven maintains ninth position with 1-6 record. Yambol at the other side dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. They share the position with Cherno More. Spartak Pleven will play against higher ranked Chernomorets (#6) in Burgas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Yambol will play at home against Balkan and hopes to get back on the winning track.
