There was no surprise when 12th ranked Miercurea Ciuc (1-4) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Voluntari (2-2) 80-67. The game was mostly controlled by Voluntari. Miercurea Ciuc was better in second period 17-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Miercurea Ciuc 36-25 including 23 on the defensive glass. Voluntari players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American point guard Anthony Hickey (180-92, college: OK State) notched 16 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the effort and Canadian guard Devoe Joseph (193-90, college: Oregon) supported him with 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Voluntari players scored in double figures. Even 25 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals by Canadian forward Emanual Shepherd (203-95, college: Southern) did not help to save the game for Miercurea Ciuc. American forward Miles Bowman Jr (201-93, college: High Point, agency: Players Group) added 14 points and 8 rebounds. Voluntari moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Steaua B. Miercurea Ciuc at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. Voluntari's next round opponent will be Dinamo B. (#10) in Bucuresti. Miercurea Ciuc will play at home against Steaua B. and hope to win that game.
