Regular Season Round 12: Ankara Basket - Mamak 79-90

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Ankara Basket (5-6) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Mamak (7-5) 90-79 on Friday. Mamak made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Mustafa Gorur (204-88) who scored 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American power forward Anthony Lee (206-91, college: Ohio St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Kutay Akpulat (198-97) who recorded 22 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Elyjah Clark (190-98, college: MSSU) added 20 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Mamak have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Samsun and Balikesir. Newly promoted Ankara Basket dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Mamak will face Gemlik (#14) in Bursa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ankara Basket will play on the road against Bornova Bld in Izmir and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
