There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Chemnitz (2-7) crushed on the road higher ranked Hamburg Towers (6-2) 95-75 on Sunday. Chemnitz shot 67.4 percent from the field and made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Chemnitz outrebounded Hamburg Towers 30-18 including a 26-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 63.2 percentage. It was a good game for American point guard Wes Clark (183-94, college: Buffalo) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Canadian forward Isiaha Mike (203-97, college: SMU) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Chemnitz players scored in double figures. American point guard TJ Shorts (175-97, college: UC Davis) answered with 19 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the other American import guard Kameron Taylor (198-94, college: Seton Hill) added 9 points and 4 assists in the effort for Hamburg Towers. Hamburg Towers' coach let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Chemnitz moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Goettingen. Hamburg Towers at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the sixth position with two games lost. Chemnitz will face higher ranked MBC (#10) in Weissenfels in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
