Regular Season Round 8: Pitesti - Oradea 65-71

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 3rd ranked Pitesti (4-3) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Oradea (4-1) 71-65 on Wednesday. Pitesti was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 19-12 charge of Oradea, which allowed them to win the game. They made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Pitesti was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian power forward Nikola Markovic (208-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Garlon Green (201-91, college: TCU, agency: Slash Sports) who added 18 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) during the contest. Serbian center Nikola Jevtovic (210-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds and Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St.) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Pitesti at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Oradea will face Voluntari (#5) in the next round. Pitesti will play against Targu Jiu and hope to win that game.
