Regular Season Round 8: Sibiu - Timisoara 92-85 OT

Eighth-ranked Timisoara (2-3) gave a tough game to second ranked Sibiu (6-1) on Wednesday. Sibiu managed to secure only seven-point victory 92-85. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 22-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-7. Sibiu outrebounded Timisoara 48-30 including 34 on the defensive glass. Timisoara was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Chris Cooper (205-90, college: ODU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import guard Marquis Addison (193-91, college: MSSU) who added 13 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Serbian-Bosnian swingman Nikola Gajic (195-91, college: SF Austin) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian point guard Igor Mijajlovic (192-84) scored 17 points. Five Sibiu and four Timisoara players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sibiu have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 6-1 record having just one point less than leader Cluj Napoca. Timisoara lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with three games lost. Sibiu will face Galati (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Timisoara will play against Constanta and hope to win that game.
