There was no surprise in Ankara where 11th ranked Elazig (4-10) was defeated by sixth ranked Cankaya (9-5) 78-67 on Wednesday. Cankaya had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Croatian-American guard Shavonte Zellous (178-86, college: Pittsburgh) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Tan White (170-82, college: MSU) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. American Emma Cannon (190-89, college: FSC) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds and the other American import guard Kelsey Mitchell (172-95, college: Ohio St.) scored 18 points. The victory was the third consecutive win for Cankaya. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Botas and Mersin. Loser Elazig keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. Cankaya will meet bottom-ranked Canik Belediye (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Elazig will play against Izmit and hope to secure a win.
