There was no surprise in Bucuresti where 9th ranked Focsani (2-5) was defeated by sixth ranked Steaua B. (4-2) 80-64 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Steaua B.. Focsani was better in second period 21-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Kenny Brown (188-91, college: Ferris St.) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 4 assists and the former international swingman Andrei Mandache (190-87) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Steaua B. players scored in double figures. American guard Jimmie Taylor (193-94, college: Rider) responded with 25 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Robert Sampson (203-92, college: Georgia Tech) scored 8 points and 13 rebounds. Steaua B. have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Voluntari. Focsani at the other side dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Steaua B. will have a break next round. Focsani will play at home against Dinamo B. (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
