Mersin Univ.'s fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after five consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Duzce Bld (1-4) 79-65 on Saturday. Strangely Duzce Bld outrebounded Mersin Univ. 45-33 including a 18-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Duzce Bld helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Caliya Robinson (190-97, college: Georgia) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. The former international Fahriye Bayraktar (185-95) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Mersin Univ. players scored in double figures. Guard Cansu Cankurt (170-90) replied with 19 points and 5 assists and guard Melis Ucar (178-96, college: Liberty) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Duzce Bld. Duzce Bld's coach Rifat Petorak rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mersin Univ. (1-5) left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with Istanbul Univ. and Botas. It was Duzce Bld's third loss in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. They share it with Karsiyaka.
