The game in Berlin was also quite interesting. 4th placed Bayern Muenchen (7-2) played at the court of sixth ranked ALBA Berlin (7-1). ALBA Berlin defeated Bayern Muenchen 85-72 on Sunday. ALBA Berlin dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Bayern Muenchen's 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for Uruguayan-Italian guard Jayson Granger (189-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 assists. The former international center Johannes Thiemann (206-94, agency: BeoBasket) helped adding 11 points and 7 rebounds. Granger is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American JaJuan Johnson (208-89, college: Purdue) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import center Jalen Reynolds (207-92, college: Xavier) scored 11 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for ALBA Berlin. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Loser Bayern Muenchen dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. ALBA Berlin will meet at home 46ers (#17) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Bayern Muenchen will play against Chemnitz (#16) and hope to secure a win.
