Regular Season Round 15: Neptunas - Zalgiris 74-104

LKL top team - Zalgiris (11-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Neptunas (4-9) in Klaipeda 104-74. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Neptunas' 24. Zalgiris shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Martinas Geben (208-94, college: Notre Dame) who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). American guard Thomas Walkup (193-92, college: SF Austin) chipped in 8 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Dziugas Slavinskas (203-98) who recorded 10 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Norbertas Giga (208-95, college: JSU) added 11 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-1 record. Loser Neptunas dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Zalgiris will meet at home Prienai CBet (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Neptunas will play against Siauliai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
