Nord Dragonz (#6) forced the game against Blackbirds (#1) into an overtime, but lost by five points 74-79 on Sunday night. The game took place in Eisenstadt. But the guests from Jennersdorf were better at the end. Nord Dragonz was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 7-point lead after three quarters before a 20-13 charge of Blackbirds, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 16-11. Blackbirds forced 21 Nord Dragonz turnovers. Nord Dragonz was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Christoph Astl (186-88) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. The former international forward Sebastian Koch (201-88) contributed with 26 points and 5 steals for the winners. Croatian guard Petar Zivkovic (193-93) replied with 23 points and Serbian center Marko Kolaric (213-84, college: Chaminade) added 12 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Nord Dragonz. Blackbirds maintains first position with 10-1 record. Nord Dragonz at the other side dropped to the third place with five games lost. Blackbirds will have a break next round.
