Regular Season Round 13: Vaerlose - Horsens IC 84-100

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Vaerlose (4-8) against fourth ranked Horsens IC (9-5) on Sunday night. Host Vaerlose unexpectedly was defeated by in Vaerlose 84-100. The game was mostly controlled by Horsens IC. Vaerlose was better in fourth quarter 37-29. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Horsens IC dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Vaerlose's 44. They outrebounded Vaerlose 49-35 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Ugandan-American Deng Geu (203-97, college: N.Texas) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 6 rebounds. Bosnian forward Vedran Borovcanin (199-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Asbjorn Nerlov (197-98) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds and international Mathias Christensen (202-95) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Vaerlose. Four Horsens IC and five Vaerlose players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Horsens IC maintains fourth place with 9-5 record. Vaerlose at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. Horsens IC will play against higher ranked Copenhagen (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vaerlose will play against the league's leader Bakken in Aarhus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
