Rather predictable result in Sofia where ninth ranked Balkan 2 (4-6) beat 11th ranked Champion 2006 (3-6) 65-54 on Tuesday. Balkan 2 forced 29 Champion 2006 turnovers. Strangely Champion 2006 outrebounded Balkan 2 42-30 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Iliyan Pishtikov who scored 24 points and 4 steals. Power forward Petko Petkov (190-1) chipped in 7 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Martin Todorov (205-2) produced 13 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized American swingman Alan Kurshumov (193-1) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Champion 2006's coach Aleksandar Aleksiev rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Balkan 2 have a solid series of three victories in a row. Despite that victory Balkan 2 went down to tenth position due to points difference. Loser Champion 2006 dropped to the twelfth place with six games lost. Balkan 2 will face higher ranked Lokomotiv 2020 (#3) in Varna in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Champion 2006's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sofia to the arena Enigma Fireworks.
