Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Ankara Basket and 13th ranked Gemlik had identical 5-7 record. This time Ankara Basket used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Bursa 65-62 on Friday night. Strangely Gemlik outrebounded Ankara Basket 47-24 including a 23-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Anil Sungur (-94) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Recep Solak (206-96) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. American center Myles Carter (206-97, college: Seattle) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Brian Starr (190-96, college: Towson) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Gemlik players scored in double figures. Gemlik's coach Fatih Elbas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ankara Basket (6-7) moved-up to eleventh place. Gemlik at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fourteenth position with eight games lost. Ankara Basket will face higher ranked Kagitspor (#5) in Izmit in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gemlik will play on the road against Bornova Bld (#4) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
