Regular Season Round 13: Karlsruhe - Koblenz 80-71

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Koblenz (8-3) against seventh ranked Arvato College Wizards (4-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Koblenz was defeated by Arvato College Wizards in a tough game in Karlsruhe 71-80. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Koblenz. Arvato College Wizards players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Koblenz's players. American Alexander Thompson (203-95, college: Samford) nailed 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and Irish guard Sean Flood (188-96, college: Longwood) accounted for 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Arvato College Wizards players scored in double figures. Forward Brian Butler (196-91) came up with 22 points and Dutch forward Chaed Wellian (204-92, college: Tennessee St.) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Koblenz in the defeat. Koblenz's coach Danny Rodriguez tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Arvato College Wizards maintains seventh place in South with 4-4 record. Koblenz at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the second position with three games lost. Arvato College Wizards will play against higher ranked Giessen 2 (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Koblenz will play against Oberhaching and hopes to get back on the winning track.
