The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Muenchen 2's (5-5) home loss to fifth ranked Giessen 2 (7-3) 74-78 on Saturday. Giessen 2 made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Muenchen 2 was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Tim Uhlemann (203-99) stepped up and scored 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and the former international Johannes Lischka (203-87) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side swingman Jason George (201-98) responded with 21 points and Austrian point guard Erol Ersek (193-99) scored 20 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Giessen 2. They moved-up to fourth place in South. Loser Muenchen 2 keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Giessen 2 will face Arvato College Wizards (#7) in Karlsruhe in the next round. Muenchen 2 will play on the road against Skyliners II in Frankfurt and hope to win that game.
