Regular Season Round 16: Khimik - Dnipro 75-71

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Dnipro (10-3) against fifth ranked Khimik (9-5) on Sunday night. Visiting Dnipro was defeated by Khimik in a tough game in Yuzhny 71-75. It looked good early as Dnipro took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Khimik had a 21-13 second period charge getting the lead and Dnipro was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-75. They outrebounded Dnipro 38-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Dnipro was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Lewis Sullivan (201-95, college: UAB) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import forward Tyrell Nelson (201-95, college: Gardner-Webb) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American guard Jared Terrell (191-95, college: URI) replied with 20 points and 4 assists and the former international forward Vyacheslav Bobrov (203-92) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Dnipro. Dnipro's coach Denys Zhuravlov tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Khimik have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Defending champion Dnipro keeps the second position with three games lost. Khimik will play against Mykolaiv (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Dnipro will play against K.Sokoly (#9) in Kharkiv and hopes to get back on the winning track.
